Just Another Day in Ludwigsburg - Kürbisausstellung Edition

For 2 months, Ludwigsburg becomes home to the world's largest pumpkin exhibition, complete with pumpkin sculptures; this year's theme was sports.

So many different types of pumpkins (Although I'm sure one was a watermelon with an identity crisis)! It's definitely opened my eyes when drawing pumpkins in the future!

I only made it on the last day, but I recommend seeing it earlier - it was beginning to smell a bit mouldy!

Character Sketch Jam Extreme pt.2

The second character Kris Brown and I devised:
30 Year Old Charismatic Wizard Girl in Medieval Times

I wasn't really sure how to capture 'charisma' - I'll have to look into that!

Character Sketch Jam Extreme pt.1

Fellow Gumballer, Kris Brown invited me round for a bit of al fresco drawing in his garden and secret hideout! We tried our hand at a character jam, writing an exquisite corpse of a character description and then drawing the results:

'17 Year Old gorilla tax collector who is easily upset - at the centre of the earth!'

Come back tomorrow for part 2!

Totemly Unbelievable!

'Totem' is this week's Illustration Friday topic, so here is a 'Shame Pole', usually created to embarass or ridicule groups or individuals for unpaid debts! Unfortunately for Skare D, he and the rest of the explorers can't work out what this one is for, or why it keeps getting bigger with each passing day!

Explorer to the Rescue!

The ancient Ambericans had a saying "It takes sap to catch saps!"

So when the great adventurer of the North, Bunazami, fails to return from an expedition to retrieve the Stolen Blue Diamond, up and coming explorer Skare D. sets off to locate his whereabouts!

Drawn for this week's Illustration Friday topic Rescue!

Maybe you've seen these guys before here & here!

And now for something completley COLOURFUL!

After all the black and white life drawings, I thought I'd share some experiments with light and colour. National Geographics and landscape photography have provided plenty of inspiration!
Initial colour pencil studies. The bottom left study eventually became this.

Replicating the same effect with Copic Markers...
...and Photoshop.
